The Pit Droids, mass-produced in varying colors, are distinguished by saucer-shaped heads and the antennae by which pairs of Pit Droids communicate. These two Pit Droids, the Grey Versions, look to be well-articulated. Deceptively spindly in appearance, Pit Droids are assigned to maintenance and repairs during Podracing events; in this capacity the diminutive Pit Droids are renowned for their efficiency and monstrous strength---this latter fact marking a malfunctioning Pit Droid as an extreme danger. Common Pit Droids are produced on the manufacturing planet of Cyrillia. The design of the Pit Droid makes it reasonably easy to store away the spring-launched droid like a fold-up ladder.
