The Super Globetrotters DVD (1979)

The Harlem Globetrotters, America's number one comedy basketball team, are transformed from extraordinary basketball players to superheroes. No longer content with battling the Washington Generals, this time around, the fun-loving Globetrotters were presented as basketball-toting crimefighters, sent out by their “Crime Globe” satellite (which looked like a giant basketball) to battle evil throughout the world for the good of all mankind.

Without renowned player, Meadowlark Lemon, the Super Harlem Globetrotters were led by Nate Branch in his alter ego “Liquid Man" (although the “F” on his chest would indicate that he was originally intended to be called “Fluid Man”). Also making the team were players Geese Ausbie (a.k.a. “Multi Man”), Curley Neal (“Super Sphere”), Twiggy Sanders (“Spaghetti Man”), and Sweet Lou Dunbar (“Gizmo,” sporting to-date the largest afro ever seen on an animated series). The players developed their super powers, complete with the ability to fly, after Nate found a secret amulet. Their only weakness was the element known as “globetron”.

You've got to give the Globetrotters credit; even after a hard day of bringing super criminals to justice, they always had enough energy left for a zany game of hoops at the end of each episode. This 3-Disc DVD collection includes all 13 episodes of THE SUPER GLOBETROTTERS.
